Schwartz research award applications due Dec. 6





Two grants, up to $25,000 each, will be awarded for research in the life sciences to Cornell faculty who enhance the diversity, equity and inclusion goals of the university. Applications for the Schwartz Research Fund awards are due Dec. 6
and recipients will be announced next spring.

“The grants are awarded to faculty conducting creative research that is likely to generate novel preliminary data, and who engage in efforts to support a community of belonging on campus,” said Yael Levitte, senior associate vice provost for faculty development and diversity.

One award will be given to an assistant professor who has completed at least two years of their appointment, and the other to an associate professor. Ithaca, Cornell Tech and Geneva-based faculty are eligible.

“The awards typically support pilot experiments likely to generate preliminary data for a subsequent application for major funding from government agencies, such as the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health or other entities providing multiyear support,” Levitte said.

Faculty outside the life sciences may apply for the award, if their research impacts the life sciences.  For more information on the application process, visit the Provost Office of Faculty Development and Diversity website.
