How Multi-Organ Genes Shape Gastric Cancer Risk
Gastric cancer risk is influenced by the complex interplay of multi-organ genes and the tumor microenvironment (TME). Research highlights the crucial role of various cellular and molecular components in the TME, including cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), immune cells, and gut microbiota, in shaping gastric cancer progression. CAFs, for instance, secrete soluble factors that promote tumor growth, invasion, and immune evasion. The gut microbiota, particularly Helicobacter pylori infection, induces genome-wide aberrant DNA methylation, leading to silencing of tumor-suppressor genes and cancer development.
